Sea freight from China to the UK rose 18.6% in June 2026 compared with July 2025, while Brent crude stands at £65.03 per barrel and WTI crude at £61.50 per barrel. UK transport charges are up 3.3% versus a year ago, according to the official road haulage price index for the second quarter of 2026.

The Bank of England's interest rate sits at 3.75% as of 27th August 2026, and wholesale natural gas at the National Balancing Point is 166.89 pence per therm, up 107.2% on the year.
