Sea freight costs from China to the UK rose 18.6% in June 2026 compared with July 2025, while Brent crude oil stands at £73.08 per barrel and WTI crude at £70.50 per barrel. UK transport charges increased 3.3% versus a year ago as of the second quarter of 2026.

The Bank of England interest rate is 3.75% effective 18 September 2026, and wholesale UK natural gas at the National Balancing Point is 198.16 pence per therm, up 145% versus a year ago.
